In Progress - scarf and sock

Here is a picture of a scarf I started with some pretty cashmere yarn. It is using the fishtail lace pattern. I want to make this for a Christmas gift for my mum who has wanted me to knit her a scarf. I think she wants some sort of novelty yarn scarf and I've bought a few to try but I guess I'm just not a novelty scarf knitting type because I just can't figure out how to make it look good. I can't see her wearing some of the eyelash stuff that will turn out looking like some kind of feather boa or anything!

Here is my progress to date on my Jaywalker sock. I didn't work on it too much over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is very tight to pull over my foot, but once on around the ankle it does fit. I don't like that I have to pull so hard to get it on. It feels like I'm really stressing the stitches to pull so hard. I'm going to finish the sock and see what happens. I still really like the pattern and the yarn.

Jaywalker moves along

This picture gives a much better representation of the colors. I just started to work the heal flap and I confess to be worried that the sock will be too tight. It is tight going over my foot but fits my ankle fine. Of course this trying on is wtih the needles in so it will be easier with out. I might try to add a couple of purl stitches between the bottom of the foot and the pattern repeats on the top just to see if it will add some more give. Also I think I will go up a half needle size.

Jaywalker Socks

Here is a picture of a stock I started for a knit-a-long. The sock is called Jaywalker. The yarn is Socks That Rock colorway Seal Rock and the needles I'm using are Crystal Palace US size 1.5 /2.5mm. I'm really enjoying this pattern. The picture makes the socks look more blue then they really are. Maybe I can get a better picture of the progress outside tomorrow.

Xanthus

For some reason this picture cracks me up. This is my puppy Xanthus. I made him put on the Harry Potter glasses I got when the Half Blood Prince came out. I'm not sure why I saved them. Xanthus is a very mellow guy for a pup who just turned 7 months.
